Rubyconf was last weekend, and I was there taking video of all the speakers for a nice little montage which will come out next week when the Confreaks videos are released. At some point I started wondering what it might look like if I condensed my 30 minute video down to 60 or 90 seconds. To get your appetite wet for my 30 minute video, here is what resulted:
There could probably be some funny sentences made with each snippet of video if I had the time. Feel free to download the video from Vimeo (login then look in the bottom right of the video page) and have fun editing it. Just please leave us a link in the comments if you come up with something creative.
The Lone Star Ruby Conference was last week, September 4-6 in Austin, Texas. I did my video bit, going around to each speaker and asking them to give me their talk in 30 seconds. This time I teamed up with Confreaks to provide you with direct links to the full videos.
Production of this video was sponsored by FiveRuns. Check out their TuneUp service to catch performance and scalability problems before your applications go into production and their Manage service to monitor your full production stack.
Looking for a unique way to advertise at an event or conference? Would you consider sponsoring me to do one of these videos? They’re great for the community and to get the word out about your services or product.
This video above is the first time I’ve had a company sponsor one of my conference videos, and as you can see it’s a very unique way to get publicity. I can also work with the Confreaks guys to provide full service video coverage of your entire event. Email me (Gregg@RailsEnvy) if you’re interested.
You can also click one of the following links if you’re interested in seeing one particular person, but I highly recommend just watching the whole thing, it’s only 10 minutes for heaven sake!
Anyone out there interested in having me do this for their conference/event? hehe… Hey, I can dream right? Talking about professional video, the Confreaks guys were there, so I suspect we’ll see full video coverage of the conference in a couple of days. When they do post them I’ll link up their videos as well.
Last week at O'Reilly's Open Source Convention (OSCON) I decided to put together a video attempting to capture the essence of the event (I did something similar with Railsconf in 36 minutes earlier this year).
I ended up with is 37 minute video of great speakers including the keynoters Tim O'Reilly, Damien Conway, Tim Bray, Robert Lefkowitz, David Recordon, Nathan Torkington, and Danese Cooper.
Thanks to everyone who gave me their 30 seconds. Sorry if I filmed you but you didn't make it into this video, I had to cut it down to the vids that were short and clear.
Miss Railsconf this year? Thankfully I captured it here in a 36 minute video for you, free of charge. Just hit the play button and let the information flow directly into your brain. No podcast this week, enjoy the videos.
I also uploaded each of these clips separately, so feel free to re-post and embed to your hearts extent. The new MVC videos we premiered at the conference will be posted Tuesday morning, right here, so stay tuned!
Below you'll find all the same clips in the video, but separated. You know, so if you really dig a certain clip you can embed it on your blog or what not.
* Not seen in the 36 minute version, because I put it together very late at night. Sorry!
Heh.. doing the whole video thing turned out a lot better then I could have expected. Maybe someone might be interested in hiring me to do video? You know, like Duncan Davidson does photography? Hey, I can dream, right? Oh, and if you're looking for additional Railsconf videos check out these guys here.
