MVC Videos

by gregg on Jun 03, 2008

During Railsconf 2008 last weekend we played the following Public Service Announcements before each of the keynotes. Thanks to Adam Keys from FiveRuns for playing the View, film production by Jason Hawkins and original music by Laura Balch.

Also, here is the MVC Song in mp3 format if you just can't get it out of your head. Maybe use it for a ring tone or every time you teach MVC to someone in a presentation, hehe.

Feel free to embed these videos. If you want to download these videos for use elsewhere, you can go to the vimeo page for the video you want to download, login to vimeo, and you should see a download link in the bottom right.

The one about REST is just plain great! ;-) Although it may seem absurd at first, these videos may help teaching MVC stuff to some students - humor is always a good way to get the message across.

Cheers,

Hilarious! I agree, the Rest one had me in tears! The MVC song, pure classic! M is for model…. Ack! I can’t stop singing it in my head!

Awesome. I was able to sum up my RailsConf experience to my boss and co-workers in 4 simple videos.

These videos are awesome. I kept finding myself singing the song on the Max (I think people thought I was crazy). Definitely a highlight from RailsConf - awesome job guys!

Nice work… Though I have to say that I kind of wanted to see the helper come in and save the day in #3.

Priit TamboomJune 04, 2008 @ 01:41 AM

RailsEnvy, you’ve done it again! Awesome videos! “… and that makes me somewhat of an authority.” Classic.

You rock :)

Awesome, just awesome. We should meet somewhere and make a whole Ruby on Rails Movie (90min).

Melvin RamJune 07, 2008 @ 03:43 PM

LOL I love nerd humor!! Favorite part was the end of the last video.

Hey I got one for you: How many programmers does it take to change a light bulb? None… that’s a hardware problem.

Totally awesome! I showed it to my friend and colleague - this girl who sits next to me and codes, although we are newbies, this one totally made its way to our minds.. heheheh.. we have to stay RESTful - so get up at 4 p.m., you cannot “borrow” my phone, you can get my phone, the controller has to starve and we have to have a fat model… and the song! M is for model… V is for view… Whoa, I cannot stop mumbling them.. hehehehe!! Great work! Now this is why I love this Rails community :)

Thank you very much!
