Lastly, you may have noticed some beeps separating some of the stories this week. I figured this might make things sound a little less abrupt when we start on the next story, let me know if you have any feedback (like/dislike).

Very keen to check out the gem speed-up tip! Just assumed that the problem was one (of the many I’ve had!) with leopard

ThinkingSphinx! It’s really nice, why is no one else using it?

“…once you get the DRb server up and running, it runs like a champ”

Yeah… it doesn’t. It might work okay in some situations, but I’ve seen indexes corrupted hourly. That isn’t good.

Ultrasphinx will configure sphinx for you. It’s way easier to get running than ferret + DRb + monitoring (since the DRb server crashes constantly).

I’ve been using the Paperclip plugin on a project this week. I’ve gotta say I’m definately loving it so far. Worth a look.

Steven was great on this episode, bring him back in future ‘casts.

But I do have one lingering question…does Steven scale?

Clemens KoflerMarch 29, 2008 @ 07:30 PM

Agreed - Steven did a great job and I’d like to see him guest-starring every now and then! ;-)

Paperclip definitely looks like one could dive into it and finally ditch good old attachment_fu - I never liked that I had to define a separate model for it …
